Activity Background
November 9th each year is National Fire Safety Day. To respond to the national call for strengthening fire safety awareness and education, the Volunteer Association of the School of Business Administration at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, in collaboration with the Security Department and the Yellow Crane Tower Fire Rescue Station of the Wuchang Fire Rescue Brigade, held a fire safety education event at Shouyi Square on November 7th.
Activity Process
Before the event officially began, firefighters and security department personnel conducted thorough planning and drills, ensuring that every aspect was meticulously prepared to handle any potential emergencies.
At 2:30 p.m., the host announced the official start of the event, emphasizing the importance of acquiring basic fire safety knowledge and escape skills. They also explained common fire hazards in daily life and the appropriate response measures.
Afterward, Captain Chen from the fire station explained how to conduct rapid and effective evacuation and rescue during a fire, as well as the proper use of fire extinguishers.
After the fire safety briefing, firefighters conducted a hands-on fire-extinguishing drill. They guided the students step-by-step on how to use fire extinguishers. The students followed along attentively and successfully extinguished a fire under the firefighters’ supervision.
Following this, the host led some interactive games. With the assistance and guidance of volunteers, students joined various games based on their interests.
Event Outcomes
The students listened attentively to the introduction of firefighting equipment by the firefighters from the Yellow Crane Tower Fire Rescue Station and carefully observed the hands-on fire-extinguishing drill. They not only learned fire safety knowledge but also had the opportunity to use fire extinguishers and mastered essential escape techniques for when a fire occurs.
