From 17th to 20th April 2025, the School of Business Administration (SBA) at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL), in collaboration with the Shenzhen Alumni Association, successfully hosted the second session of its Shenzhen Business Camp under the theme “Bay Economy, Wuhan-Shenzhen Synergy.” Held in Shenzhen, a core city of the Greater Bay Area, the event brought together leading scholars, business elites, and alumni for an immersive program integrating theoretical exploration, corporate visits, and cross-disciplinary discussions. The camp served as a platform for academic-industry synergy, alumni engagement, and practice-driven learning, underscoring SBA’s commitment to responsibility and innovation in business education.


Opening Session: Multidimensional Perspectives on Business Innovation

On April 17th, the opening ceremony was held at Donghua Group. Fu Xiao, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Donghua Industry (Holding) Co., Ltd., welcomed the participants and emphasized Shenzhen’s strategic role in reform and innovation. Professor Du Peng, Associate Dean of the SBA, led the ZUEL delegation and engaged with EMBA students and alumni on development opportunities in the Bay Area.

(1)Marketing Innovation: From Traffic Operation to Value Co-Creation

Professor Du Peng delivered a keynote speech titled “Value Growth and Marketing Innovation,” introducing a four-pillar model—Attract, Convert, Upsell, and Retain—and highlighting the importance of storytelling and emotional value in Gen Z marketing.


(2) Empowering with Digital Intelligence: Restructuring Marketing Methodology in the AI Era

Associate Professor Sun Hongqing presented “New Media Strategy in the AI Era,” exploring how AI reshapes content creation and user engagement. His interactive session offered practical tools for digital transformation.


(3) Compliance for the Long Term: Risks and Opportunities in the Web 3.0 Era

In the legal segment, Liu Honglin, founder of Shanghai Mankun Law Firm, explored “Web 3.0 Opportunities and Regulatory Challenges,” outlining key compliance concepts such as “penetrative supervision” and “risk isolation.” His insights provided legal frameworks for companies entering blockchain and emerging tech markets.


Field Visits: Alumni Enterprises as Innovation Models

The business camp included visits to three alumni-led enterprises.

Hytera Communications, led by MBA Class of 2012 alumnus Guo Xiaole, demonstrated cutting-edge solutions in professional communication and emergency response systems.

Yuanwei Innovation Industrial, founded by 1998 marketing alumnus Bao Bin, showcased R&D strength in SSD and memory modules, exemplifying craftsmanship in specialized tech manufacturing.

HarmonyOS Ecosystem Center, presented by MBA Class of 2009 alumnus Duan Lingxiao, offered hands-on experience with native HarmonyOS applications in smart cities and healthcare—highlighting China’s localization strategies in digital ecosystems.


Alumni Collaboration: Building a New Business Ecosystem

During the roundtable session, Dai Jinzhou, President of the SBA Shenzhen Alumni Chapter, emphasized the importance of alumni networks in fostering collaborative innovation.

Professor Du Peng echoed this by reaffirming SBA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the “Alumni Empowerment Program” through regional workshops, mentorships, and shared learning resources.


Transforming Through Business Wisdom, Innovating Through Practice

The camp offered participants valuable exposure to cutting-edge practices in the Greater Bay Area, reinforcing ZUEL SBA’s commitment to combining theory and practice.


The MBA Education Center of the SBA at ZUEL will take this event as a new starting point to further uphold its interdisciplinary strength in economics, management, and law. By deepening industry-academia collaboration in the Greater Bay Area and beyond, it aims to cultivate business leaders with global vision and local insight—contributing the strength of ZUEL to national strategies and the high-quality development of China’s economy.
