On 22nd June 2025, the 11th National Management Case Elite Competition (2025) ZUEL Campus Selection Competition was held as scheduled at Zhexiao Auditorium, Wenhui Building, Shouyi Campus of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL). The competition was hosted by the MBA Education Center of the School of Business Administration(SBA) of ZUEL and co-organized by the Management Case Research Center and MBA Federation of ZUEL. Professor Du Peng, Associate Dean of the SBA and Deputy Director of the MBA Education Center, and Ms. Xiong Min, Director of the Enrollment and Brand Promotion Department of the MBA Education Center of theSBA, attended the event. Associate Professor Liu Kai of the School of Business Administration, Mr. Xiao Jishen, Manager of the Marketing Management Division of Dongfeng Auto Finance Co., Ltd., and Mr. Li Bin, Assistant to the General Manager of Dongfeng Communication Technology Co., Ltd., were invited to serve as judges for the competition. The competition was moderated by Li Rui, a 2019 MBA alumna and General Manager of Wuhan Jiayi Times Technology.
Before the competition, Professor Du Peng delivered a warm speech. He stated that the Management Case Elite Competition provides an effective application scenario for MBA education and serves as a bridge connecting theory with practice. He hoped that through the competition, students could continuously enhance their systematic thinking, improve decision-making abilities, cultivate innovative thinking, and strengthen team collaboration.
During the competition, four teams from the 2024 MBA/EMBA conducted an in-depth analysis of the competition case Leaping over the Small Courtyard Wall: The Breakthrough Path of Dongfeng's High-end New Energy Vehicles under the EU Anti-subsidy Investigation, demonstrating solid theoretical foundations, keen business insights, and innovative solutions.
The selection competition adopted the standard format of the national competition, consisting of two stages: "Little PK" and "Big PK". In the "Little PK" session, two teams competed on stage, each delivering a 10-minute timed case presentation followed by a 5-minute high-intensity Q&A session. The "Big PK" stage allowed non-performing teams and judges to question the two teams on stage.
After over two hours of intense competition, the results were announced: the "Caizhi Online" team from the 2024 MBA Intensive Class 2 won the championship, the "Journey to the West Team - Breakthrough Alliance" from the 2024 EMBA class placed second, and the "Fengyun Jixia" and "Zhaohua Xishí" teams from the 2024 MBA Weekend Class 3 tied for third. Six contestants—Yi Wan, Ai Daqiao, Liu Ying, Cao Hao, Xiong Yuan, and Yan Jun—were awarded MVP (Most Valuable Player) for their outstanding performances.
At the end of the competition, Associate Professor Liu Kai highly appraised the professional qualities and team collaboration spirit demonstrated by the contestants and made a professional comment. He stated that the case analysis on the issue of Dongfeng New Energy Vehicles going global is a beneficial exploration made by the SBA in terms of industry-education integration with the philosophy of "based in Zhongnan, facing the world".
It is reported that the 6 MVP players will be reorganized and represent ZUEL in the Huazhong Division Qualifying Tournament, competing with teams from other universities for a spot in the national finals.
