To enhance labor literacy, practical skills, and sense of responsibility, all undergraduate students of the general education course “Labor Literacy and Experience in the Age of Digital Intelligence” at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) carried out a campus labor practice activity on 21stOctober, 2025. The activity was led by Professor Xiong Wei, the course instructor, and Associate Professor Chen Tianxue, head of the “Zhixingchuang Labor Workshop,” with support from the Logistics Support Department. The practice integrated labor education with Responsibility Management Education (RME) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing students’ social responsibility in hands-on activities.

After safety instructions by Ge Hongguo, Secretary of the Property Services Center, Technician Wang Chenghui guided students to the tree transplant site in front of Zhongyuan Building, demonstrating the use of digital intelligence technology to monitor soil nutrients and regulate water. Under the guidance of Deputy Director Chen Xin, students personally participated in digging and transplanting Canary Island date palms, experiencing teamwork and environmental stewardship.

Students then visited the campus nursery to learn potting, seedling planting, and initial watering skills. Under instructor supervision, each student cultivated a personal plant and learned to identify various species, enhancing ecological awareness.

This labor practice allowed students to experience real work scenarios, understand applications of digital intelligence, and recognize the professionalism of grassroots workers. By participating in campus greening, students practiced RME principles and contributed to SDGs goals on sustainable cities and communities.

Lei Lei, Minister of the Logistics Support Department, and Huang Bo, Secretary of the Party Committee, noted that campus labor cultivates execution ability, responsibility, and collective honor. The activity explored new paths for integrating labor education with RME and SDGs, laying a foundation for cultivating high-quality, sustainability-oriented talent in the digital intelligence era.
