From November 29th to 30th, the Chengyi Volunteer Service Team of the School of Business Administration (SBA), Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL), carried out the themed community activity “Painting Winter Scenes Across Generations” at the Hubei Elderly Rehabilitation Center and Nanhuzhong Community in Guanshan Subdistrict. Using the solar terms Lesser Snow and Greater Snow as cultural anchors, the event created an interactive platform connecting children and elderly residents.

Volunteers arrived early to set up materials and ensure smooth organization.

For the elderly session, volunteers introduced the characteristics and customs of the two winter solar terms, followed by a hands-on activity where participants created seasonal clay artworks with guidance. The warm and relaxed atmosphere encouraged meaningful interaction and creativity.

For children, volunteers used illustrated slides and interactive questions to explain traditional winter customs. During the craft session, the children made clay snowmen and dumplings with volunteers’ help and later received one-on-one homework tutoring.

Participants shared that accompanying seniors and guiding children to explore seasonal traditions brought both warmth and a strong sense of purpose, deepening their commitment to community service.

By using traditional culture as a bridge, the activity fostered emotional connection across generations and enhanced community engagement. Moving forward, the Chengyi Volunteer Service Team will continue to collaborate with local communities and develop culturally enriching programs that support a friendly and vibrant community environment.
