2021 Annual Review of Paired-up Assistance and Aid Scheme Work of the School of Business Administration
Giving priority to the paired-up assistance and aid scheme work, the School of Business Administration (the SBA) helped the receivers of assistance promote the aid scheme work in various channels and forms in 2021. Capitalizing on ZUEL’s strengths such as its think tanks, education and research, as well as the faculty and talents, the SBA further strengthened the consensus on poverty alleviation and contributed to aligning our efforts to consolidate and expand the achievements in poverty alleviation with efforts to promote rural revitalization through a combination of poverty-alleviation steps, including financial assistance, pairing programs, poverty-relief efforts through consumption, the assignment of cadres to poverty-alleviation programs, personnel training and exchanges, as well as inviting investment. In 2021, the SBA has provided 294.65 thousand yuan to financial and consumption assistance programs, as well as the alumni-assistance program. The details are as follows：
1. Fully Mobilizing Resources from Alumni, Further Reducing Poverty Through Funding
Firmly following the consensus on poverty alleviation, the SBA proactively shouldered its social responsibility through real actions. To upgrade local industries, the School has funded 15 thousand yuan for Yanjin county’s education development, introduced 60 thousand yuan of alumni-assistance fund, and received 100 thousand yuan’s worth of tomato seeds from an enterprise run by the School’s alumnus. Besides, the School has donated ten air conditioners totaling 43.85 thousand yuan for Hongshi village’s rural revitalization.

2.Harnessing The Faculty and Party Member’s Potential, Boosting Poverty-Relief Efforts Through Consumption
The SBA fully brought out the initiative of the faculty and staff and ordered agricultural by-products at a total value of 75.8 thousand yuan from Yanjin county, Xingshan County and other impoverished areas from Wuhan Qianbi Technology Co., Ltd operated by ZUEL Relish Student Entrepreneurial Team. Meanwhile, the School stepped up efforts to advocate that the faculty, students, alumni and enterprises run by alumni order products from poor areas to promote poverty alleviation.

3.Leveraging the School’s Strengths in Disciplines, Promoting One-on-one Intellectual Assistance
In July 2021, the Department of Agricultural Economy Management conducted a series of research activities themed by “The Department of Agricultural Economy Management from ZUEL Go Down to Villages for Rural Revitalization”. In the same month, Secretary Wang Hualu followed Yang Canming, president of ZUEL, to guide the researches on rural revitalization in Tongcheng county and donated ten air conditioners on behalf of the SBA. In July 2021, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School Li Fang, Professor Deng Aimin ( secretary of the Party branch that’s honored as a national model branch for Party build-up and selected into the first batch of national “double-leader” college faculties’ Party branches, and chair of Department of Tourism Management) and Liu Shujun, the Party cadre in charge of organizational work, finished the handover of tourism planning for rural revitalization with Tongcheng county, which lived up to the expectations of the Party Committees of ZUEL and the School. Meanwhile, they led a team comprised of student counselors and students to conduct researches for a summer-vocation social practice in Hongshi village, Maishi town, Tongcheng county. After preliminary investigations into Tongcheng county for three times, Professor Deng Aimin guided nine postgraduates majoring in Tourism Management to do on-the-spot researches twice in this county in an effort to explore problems existing in local tourism development and rural revitalization, as well as make corresponding suggestions. In October 2021, Secretary Wang Hualu followed Luan Yongyu, Party Secretary of ZUEL, to conduct field researches on deepening the college-location cooperation and promoting rural revitalization. In 2021, CHINA DAILY cited several important statements of Professor Wu Haitao from the School again. Professor Wu said, “The issues of poverty, pollution and corruption had been in the authorities’ crosshairs since 2012 as the country moved to achieve a moderately prosperous society in all respects. The convincing evidence has demonstrated that the Chinese path, theory, political system and culture all work. In addition, the CPC has defended and promoted the development of socialism worldwide and injected new momentum into the global socialist cause and mankind’s development.” Besides, he finished the project of rural revitalization entrusted by the Yanjin county Party Committee and its government. In 2021, experts and scholars organized by the School offered two dozens of amendments to the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of Yanjin County, which was highly praised by Zheng Lei, the then Deputy Secretary of the county Party committee and the county’s chief. Besides, experts from Department of Agricultural Economy Management were organized by the School to specialize in the county’s Action Plan on Boosting Rural Revitalization with The Achievements of Poverty Alleviation, which have provided constructive amendments. In 2021, main leaders from Department of Marketing Management, including Du Peng, Wang Tian, Fan Shuai and Sun Hongqing, discussed with Ding Min who ran a in-school poverty-relief supermarket on a panel in an effort to learn about the supermarket’s basic information and offer several useful suggestions. They also assisted Youth League Committee of ZUEL and this supermarket to plan a marketing campaign for Huangquan Mineral Water. At the request of West Yunnan University of Applied Sciences (WYUAS), a receiver of ZUEL’s paired-up assistance, four professional faculties from WYUAS came to the School in November 2019 and in March 2021 respectively for further study and training with the post, which could facilitate the development of WYUAS. In June 2021, Dr. Wang Tian, Associate Professor Peng Hong and Dr. Wang Lu of the teaching and research team of e-commerce from Department of Marketing Management went to WYUAS in Dali to teach undergraduates and assist in specialty development.

4.Proactively Responding to The Country’s Call, Promptly Recommending Excellent Faculty to Poverty-alleviation Programs
In August 2021, in response to Notice About Assigning Faculties to Assist in China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay, the assistant professor Mao Haitao from Department of International Trade, took the initiative in applying for this assistance program. He now teaches The Theory and Practice of International Trade to the class of 2019 of Finance, undertaking the teaching duties with a total of 216 class hours throughout the year.
In January 2021, responding to the call of the CPC Central Committee and Hubei Provincial Party Committee, the director of Undergraduate Affairs Office Zeng Jie led a team to go to Hongshi village for a two-year assistance program as its assistant captain, which has made due contributions to the University’s and the School’s paired-up assistance and aid scheme work.
From 2020 to 2021, Ye Hanchi and Ding Meisheng, two retired faculties of the School, actively participated in “Silver-age Faculties Program” and worked in distant WYUAS as volunteer faculties.
