A Grand Ceremony Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of EMBA Education and the New Year Forum Was Held in ZUEL!

A grand ceremony celebrating the 20th anniversary of EMBA education and the new year forum was held on December 30th 2022. Under the theme of “Corporate Sustainability and Wealth Succession Toward ‘Common Prosperity’ Vision”, the forum invited well-known experts and alumni to attend round-table discussions and deliver keynote speeches.


Deputy Party Committee Secretary and President of ZUEL Yang Canming was present at the forum and gave a speech. And Member of the Standing Committee of ZUEL Party Committee and Vice President Yao Li presided over the opening ceremony. A alumnus of the first batch of ZUEL EMBA graduates, the Special Supervisor of the Board of China Railway Group Limited (CREC) and the former Chief Accountant of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd (MBEC) Gu Jihong, as well as Prof. Zhang Hu, a representative of head teachers from EMBA classes and Dean of School of Statistics and Mathematics, addressed the forum one after another. Prof. Wang Zhongming, a senior professor in Humanities and Social Sciences from Zhejiang University and President of the International Silk Road Entrepreneurship Education Alliance, Ms. Chia-Yue Chang, Noah Holdings Founding Investor, Noah Holdings Director and Chairwoman of Noah ESG Committee, Prof. Wang Haisu, the Founding Dean of ZUEL’s former School of MBA, delivered keynote speeches.


Other guests invited to this ceremony included Secretary of Party General Branch in the former MBA School of ZUEL and the present Dean of CCB Campus of ZUEL Nie Xin, Director of the Office of the CPC ZUEL Committee and of the University Office Liu Jianming, Secretary of the Organization Department of the CPC ZUEL Committee Chen Shi, Dean of Graduate School of ZUEL Prof. Hu Honghong, Director of Department of Undergraduate Education Prof. Qian Xuefeng, Director of Department of Alumni Work and Social Cooperation Da Ning, and Dean of School of Continuing Education Zhao Kai. Besides, this forum was held with the participation of Secretary of the Party Committee of the SBA Wang Hualu, Dean of the SBA and Director of MBA Education Center Prof. Wu Haitao, as well as heads of other departments, head teachers of successive EMBA classes and all staff of MBA Education Center.

Under the title of "New Arenas and Sustainable Employment Competitiveness of MBA Education", Prof. Wang Zhongming suggested that MBA education turn to a new arena with Responsibility (R), Digital Intelligence Quotient (D) and Green Innovation (G) as its core, as well as expounded the strategy and position of sustainable employment competitiveness and a growth path.


Under the title of "ESG and Corporate Wealth Succession", Ms. Chia-Yue Chang shared her thoughts on how mankind tackle various challenges in changing times. Centering on the impact of ESG on enterprises’ operation and transformation, she pointed out that entrepreneurs should flexibly drive changes and meet challenges for enterprise’s transformation through confronting the reality and finding meaning, as well as elaborated on the value of wealth succession and future investment trends.

 

After looking back on the history of EMBA education, Prof. Wang Haisu gave a keynote speech titled “Intangible Assets and Corporate Sustainable Development”. He analyzed the evolution of intangible assets in different stages of enterprises’ development, and pointed out that enterprises have become an economic organization that consumes tangible assets and create intangible ones. Therefore, he believed that talents are essential to the sustainable development of corporate intangible assets that support an enterprise’s inherent value, and suggested that enterprises should treat their employees kindly, count them equally and respect their personality after researching into humanity in order to win people over. Finally, he made an introduction of SCPVA system with the portrayal and valuation of corporate intangible assets as its core. This system is developed by a Chinese listed company on Growth Enterprises Market (GEM) that has been researched by his team for a long time.

 

The alumni forum was presided over by Long Yanni, CEO of Zhejiang Moushi Cultural Media Company and an alumnus from the EMBA class of 2015. Associate Professor Du Peng, the Chair of the Department of Marketing Management and the Research Director of MBA Education Center, gave a report on the growth of EMBA alumni and the plan for alumni work from three aspects: history, current landscape and future expectations. Pan Helin, an alumnus from the EMBA class of 2004 and now the co-director of the Research Center for Digital Economics and Financial Innovation from International Business School, Zhejiang University (ZIBS), shared his thoughts on “Web 3.0 and Future Society, Industrial Transformation” and talked about new challenges and opportunities for companies in an era of "metaverse". Wan Chuangqi, an alumnus from the EMBA class of 2012 and now an executive director of Wolong Holding Group, shared his experience in “The Digitalization of Wolong Holding Group” and introduced this company’s 14th five-year strategic goals and a plan for social responsibility.

 


The round-table discussions invited Ju Weiping, an alumnus from the EMBA class of 2006 and now the deputy governor of PingAn Bank Co., Ltd., Lv Sixiao, an alumnus of 2007 and now the chairman of Shanghai Hangling Aero Scientific and Technological Development Co., Ltd., Shen Baoshi, an alumnus of 2012 and now the chairman of Hangzhou Zhonggang Technology Group, as well as Wang Weixian, an alumnus of 2020 and now the chairman of Hubei Daerhu Technology Co., Ltd. Discussions among those four guests focused on "What Challenges enterprises are facing and the Corresponding Strategies During A New Journey".


Ju Weiping gave an overview of PingAn Bank’s series of explorations and practices for serving the real economy. Lv Sixiao proposed that private enterprises should also have a shift in attitudes and develop more new strategies toward ‘common prosperity’ vision to seize new opportunities for ESG investment after the 20th CPC National Congress. Shen Baoshi pointed out that in the future enterprises should tap into more strengths according to their own situation so as to look for business potential at home and abroad as well as broaden the market in multiple dimensions. Meanwhile, he called for further eliminating discrimination against private enterprises to improve the business environment. Wang Weixian proposed that companies should be persistent, calm and confident to achieve internal stability and external growth, as well as follow the principle of “not being rigid, greedy or impatient” to keep abreast with the times.

The grand ceremony celebrating the 20th anniversary of EMBA education and the new year forum was broadcast live through an education video account "Shimmer of MBA in ZUEL Shouyi Campus", receiving nearly 4000 online viewers. Following the vision of "building a first-class business school integrating economics, law, and management on the basis of taking a firm hold in south-central China and facing the world", the SBA (MBA Education Center) established and implemented the strategy of "pursuing international trends, embracing local practice and promoting the school’s advantages" to gain mastery over business practices and international trends against a background of New Technology Revolution.
