Faculty of SBA Won the Second Prize in the 5th Grand Prix of “Excellent Developer” Case Held by School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University

(Correspondent: Qu Yuke) On January 5th, 2023, the result of the 5th Grand Prix of Excellent DeveloperCase, held by School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, was announced. The case Dongfeng Motor Corporation: Promoting the Internationalization of the High-end New Energy Vehicle Voyah, led by Associate Professor Liu Kai of School of Business Administration (SBA), won the second prize in the competition.



The case focused on the strategic choice of Voyah, a high-end brand of new energy vehicle in Dongfeng Motor Corporation, in the process of internationalization. It discussed how the Chinese automotive industry seized opportunities in the new trend of digitalization and  decarbonization and achieved great success in the new field of new energy vehicle under the new development pattern of dual circulation. The research team followed the cooperative enterprisemanagement problems by long-term fieldwork, interviews and research. Besides, theories related to international business were combined with the professional teaching objectives in the process. After a long-term research and polishing, the article about the case was finished. During the process of case development, the research team got valuable opinions and support from the corporation.

The 5th Grand Prix of Excellent DeveloperCase was held by the China Business Case Center of School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. The purpose of the competition was to improve the quality of cases and gather experts and elites to jointly build a case database known for  high quality. A double-blindmechanism was adopted for the selection of the first and second prizes. The collection of cases for the competition began in August, 2022 and 21 cases were selected as finalists for the prizes after four months of evaluation and review. Finally, 2 cases were selected as the first prizes and 9 cases were selected as the second prizes by the Expert Evaluation Committee.

    This award shows the substantial achievements of SBA in the research and development of management cases as well as college-enterprise cooperation and collaborative education. Furthermore, it consolidates the foundation of SBA in case writing and development. Taking this award as an opportunity, SBA will continue to encourage faculties to develop high quality cases and provide them with platforms and resources, promoting case development and teaching to be implemented.
