Guangxi Alumni Association

On March 5, 2020, Wuhan and other places in China were striving to combat the COVID-19 epidemic with insufficient supplies and inconvenient transportation. But under the circumstances, 30 tons of supplies donated by Guangxi alumni were successfully sent to Zhongnan University of Economics and Law after two days of delivery.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Guangxi alumni paid attention to the prevention and control of the epidemic and the health and safety of faculty and learners. After knowing that their daily lives were greatly affected, the alumni started to make donations and raised more than 500,000 yuan in just a few days. The staff of Guangxi Alumni Association also contacted the material suppliers with the fastest speed and purchased 30 tons of necessities such as pork, lettuce, peppers and tomatoes. Some of the fresh vegetables and other supplies were even packed and sent to ZUEL after the suppliers worked overtime to pick them from the vegetable fields.

Facing the difficulty of limited transportation, the alumni contacted the relevant government departments for the procedures. Luckily, the supplies were sent to ZUEL on March 5 in just two days.

Faculty who received supplies expressed their gratitude to Guangxi alumni in their WeChat Moments

Although they have already graduated from ZUEL, they have never forgotten the school motto: be learned, rational, virtuous, and benevolent. They helped alma mater to fight against the epidemic and would go where the people need no matter where they are. They make donations to improve education and help talents. In Guangxi and around the world, they carry the spirit of ZUEL ahead.

Today, the organization released donation initiative on the Foundations official account, calling for targeted donations to Wuhan. I am overwhelmed by phone calls, text messages, and WeChat messages. I work from 7 a.m. to more than 11 p.m. every day.

During this period, Xia Kai has a strong belief that he wants to try his best to defeat the epidemic. Thanks to his efforts, since January 2020, Zhong Nanshan Medical Foundation has received and donated more than 140 million yuan of protective materials which covered 10 provincial-level administrative regions across the country. The prefecture-level cities in Hubei have basically achieved full coverage.
