2023 AMBA&BGA International Conference was held in Seville, Spain on May 14th to 17th, 2023, with the attendance of more than 400 representatives from over 100 business schools around the world. Wang Hualu, Vice Dean and Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Business Administration (SBA) and Wu Yingna, Department Chair of Economics and Trade and Director of the International Accreditation Office of the SBA went to Spain to attend the conference. This was the first time that the SBA has shown up in offline International Accreditation Conference held outbound since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cutting-edge academic topics including the application of Chat GPT and metaverse in business education, responsibility management education and sustainable development of business schools, enhancement of connections between global business schools and the improvement of diversity, equity and inclusiveness in business schools, etc. were discussed in the Conference.
The parallel session was hosted by Professor Wang Zhongming, a member of the International Accreditation Advisory Committee and the chief advisor for China of AMBA&BGA, Senior Professor of Liberal Arts of Zhejiang University, Director of Zhejiang University's Global Entrepreneurship Research Center (GERC) and George Iliev, Director of Accreditation and China of AMBA&BGA. In this session, Director Wu Yingna gave a speech on behalf of the SBA. She stressed the effective measures taken by the SBA to deal with the diverse difference of female students, the construction of female leadership and college students’ career development center, and the special training mode of integrating “economics, law and management” adopted by the SBA.
During the conference, a ceremony was held by AMBA&BGA specifically to issue the accreditation certification to those who have passed AMBA Accreditation for the first and second time. In 2019, the SBA received a five-year AMBA re-accreditation and in 2021, it has become the first school of AMBA in China to pass the BGA accreditation alone. MrAndrew Main Wilson, CEO of AMBA&BGA, and Professor Steef van de Velde, Chairman of the AMBA&BGA International Accreditation Advisory Committee, presented the certificates of AMBA and BGA accreditation in person. Wang Hualu, Secretary of the Party Committee of SBA accepted the certifications from AMBA&BGA as the representative of the SBA. Up to now, only 35 business schools including the SBA in the world have passed the BGA accreditation, which marks our leading position in the AMBA&BGA accreditation.
In addition, the representatives of the SBA conducted face-to-face communication with directors of AMBA&BGA Accreditation, international experts and peers from business schools to learn about the key points and new trends in the development of MBA programs and global business schools, as well as the latest standards of AMBA&BGA Accreditation. The communication has provided abundant experience for the re-accreditation of AMBA&BGA of the SBA next year. It will also play a very important role in helping the SBA to promote the combination of business and new technology, the international development of business schools and international exchanges and cooperation.
