In order to understand the employment situation and satisfaction of graduates of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) in western China, and to promote high-quality and full employment of graduates, a research team composed of Yu Xiaopeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Business Administration (SBA), Zhan Wanming, Deputy Director of the Employment Guidance and Service Center, and Zeng Jie, Director of the Student Affairs Office of SBA, went to Kashgar Prefecture in Xinjiang from July 27th to August 1st to conduct visits to western employed graduates and to conduct employment market surveys. During this period, they visited the Yarkant County Committee and County Government,  Kashgar Rural Commercial Bank, and other units, and carried out activities to visit the graduates.

Through visits to southern Xinjiang, this research further understood the demand for talents in the western region by local governments and employers. By investigating the employment situation of graduates and visiting enterprises, this research laid the foundation for expanding the employment market for graduates in the western region. At the same time, it provided certain references for our universitys talent cultivation, employment guidance, practical training, and alumni cooperation.

In addition, accompanied by local alumni, the research team went deep into the four counties in Kashgar Prefecture and had in-depth communication with local undergraduates of ethnic minority and their families with a total distance of nearly 6,000 kilometers.

In order to ensure the effectiveness of the home visits, the research team made sufficient considerations in the compilation of students’ basic information and route arrangements. They prepared a file for each student, covering their academic performance, participation in activities, and awards during their time at the university. They also prepared relief supplies and university souvenirs for the students families.

Their parents were surprised that these professors of ZUEL traveled thousands of miles to visit them. ZUEL has always attached great importance to the cultivation of ethnic minority students, and has visited home of ethnic minority students in Xinjiang for many times. This has played a positive role in further enhancing the relationship between the university and students, as well as their families, and strengthening the collaboration between family and university in educating students.

In addition, the research team traveled nearly 500 kilometers locally, delivering letter of admission directly to these freshmen. This not only strengthened the universitys understanding of these freshmen but also enhanced the sense of identity among the students and their parents towards ZUEL.
