Representatives of SBA Attended the AMBA&BGA Global Conference 2024

The AMBA&BGA Global Conference 2024 was held in Budapest, Hungary from 12 to 15 May, with more than 400 delegates from more than 100 business schools around the world. Secretary Yu Xiaopeng of the Party Committee of the School of Business Administration (SBA), Associate Professor Wu Yingna, Director of the department of economics and trade and International Accreditation Office, and Mr Chen Ke from the International Accreditation Office represented SBA to attend the conference in Hungary.

The conference explored cutting-edge academic topics such as Business and Artificial Intelligence, business education development in an uncertain world, responsible management education and sustainability research in business schools, and diversity, equality and inclusion in business schools.

In addition, the conference also introduced the latest statistics and trends of global MBA education, the construction of the Global Silk Road Entrepreneurship Base and the latest accreditation standards of BGA, and other related contents.

On 14th May, Professor Wang Zhongming, member of AMBA&BGA International Advisory Board and General Advisor of China, Senior Professor of Liberal Arts at Zhejiang University and Director of the Centre for Global Entrepreneurship at Zhejiang University, Professor Wendy Loretto, former dean of the University of Edinburgh Business School and former chairman of AMBA&BGA, and Mr. George Iliev, Director of Accreditation and China at AMBA&BGA, hosted a meeting with representatives of SBA and Mr. Andrew Main Wilson, CEO, AMBA&BGA, to discuss the latest accreditation standards. In the session on Diversity in Chinese Business Schools, chaired by Mr Iliev, Associate Professor Yingna Wu spoke on behalf of SBA, highlighting the diversity differences in SBA in response to the high proportion of female learners, as well as the innovative initiatives that the School has taken in recent years to comprehensively promote the learning and growth of female learners in the School.

It is worth mentioning that SBA's distinctive initiatives for female learners were recognised and noticed by Professor Wendy Loretto, the new Chair of AMBA&BGA. After the meeting, Prof Wendy also had further exchanges with the representatives of SBA, discussing the distinctive practices of different schools in female leadership as well as the directions of development that can continue to be innovated in the future.

During the meeting, representatives also introduced the SBA's preparation for AMBA&BGA Joint Re-accreditation with Mr George Iliev, Director of Accreditation and China of AMBA&BGA, and discussed specific issues such as problems encountered in the process of preparation for accreditation, the latest schedule for the on-site visit in the second half of this year, and the arrangement of agenda for the visit between the two campuses.

The host institution of the AMBA&BGA Global Conference is the Coventry University of Hungary, which is a famous Hungarian institution specialising in finance and economics, and has many similarities with our college in terms of disciplines and specialisations. During the conference, the representatives of SBA also had exchanges with Associate Professor Fehér Péter, Vice President of Coventry University in charge of internationalisation, and had in-depth discussions on the cooperation in terms of exchange of teachers and students and joint scientific research, and initially reached an intention of cooperation, which promoted the internationalisation of SBA with European institutions since the recovery from the epidemic.

Up to now, only 297 business schools in the world have passed the AMBA accreditation and 47 business schools have passed the BGA accreditation. As the first AMBA and BGA dual-accredited business school in Central China, it also signifies that our school is at the forefront of AMBA&BGA accreditation in the world.

During the conference, the representatives of SBA also had face-to-face exchanges with international experts and business school peers, discussing the important and difficult points of AMBA and BGA accreditation, which has drawn rich experience for SBA's AMBA&BGA joint re-accreditation work in the second half of this year, and will also bring very important impetus to the combination of business and new technology, the internationalisation development of the business school as well as the international exchanges and co-operation of SBA.
