From September 6th to 8th, 2024, the finals of the 7th Hubei Youth Volunteer Public Welfare Project Competition were successfully held at Wuhan University of Technology. Since its launch this year, a total of 398 projects have been collected from various places. After the preliminary review of the municipal competition, 248 projects were determined to be recommended for provincial competitions, involving 13 volunteer service fields. The Qingniao Voluntary Team of the Volunteer Association of School of Business Administration(SBA) won the bronze medal in this competition with a business youth project, Business Thinking to Help Dreams, Qingniao Walking Together, which is aimed at assisting left-behind children in rural areas, fully demonstrating the positive role and extensive influence of young volunteers in public welfare.
1. Introduction of the Voluntary Team
The Qingniao Voluntary Team was established in 2015. It designated Tujia'an Town Middle School in Ezhou City, Hubei Province, and Yanjing Primary School in Yanjin County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, as volunteer service bases. Its mission is to serve local left-behind children, with the objective of Caring for Left-behind Children, Protecting Them with Love, and Helping Them Grow, and it insists on delivering love and hope to left-behind children.
2. Introduction of Voluntary Project
In the 2024 government report, Premier Li Qiang recommended continuous and dedicated efforts to address the Work related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers and facilitate the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas. In his introduction of the government's work tasks for 2024, Premier Li Qiang proposed to strengthen the construction of a high-quality education system, fully implement the party's education policy, focus on the education of left-behind children, and lay a solid foundation for the happiness of the people and the prosperity of the country.
In response to the call, the Qingniao Voluntary Team of SBA launched the Business Thinking to Help Dreams, Qingniao Walking Together project in which business youth provide poverty alleviation and educational assistance for left-behind children in rural areas. The team provides services to Tujia'an Town Middle School and Yanjing Primary School. It conducts in-depth research on the living conditions of the students and provides material and educational assistance, psychological care, and growth guidance for left-behind children in rural areas. With the Business Thinking to Help the Poor initiative as a foundation, a three-in-one series of care service activities has been established, focusing on accompaniment, transmission of knowledge, and aiding education.

Cultural and Creative Competition
The cultural and creative competition selects outstanding works through theme design, online voting and other aspects, and then mass-produces them into products for charity sales.
This activity engaged students in imaginative and creative pursuits, garnering positive feedback from teachers and students alike. Additionally, it yielded high-quality works for subsequent charity sales.
Charity Sale
The charity sale will turn the outstanding works of the cultural and creative competition into exquisite cultural and creative works and sell them at the campus lawn music festival. All proceeds will be allocated to support the growth and development of left-behind children in Tu Town.
Qingyu Grocery Store
The Qingyu Grocery Store is independently operated by the voluntary team. It adopts an unmanned vending machine on the second floor of the Wenrun Building. While providing convenience to students, it also raises funds for scholarships at Tuzhen Middle School.

One-to-one Love Letter
During the one-on-one love letter activity, the Qingniao Voluntary Team built direct communication between school student volunteers and the left-behind children in Tu Town, enabling school students to gain an in-depth understanding of the living conditions of local children and to protect their healthy growth.
Tuzhen Big Activity
The Tuzhen activity consists of two parts: the Tuzhen aid tour and the Wuhan study tour.
During the Tuzhen aid tour, the volunteers organized the award ceremony and scholarship presentation at Tuzhen Middle School and had in-depth face-to-face exchanges with the left-behind children. During the Wuhan study tour, the volunteers led the students of Tuzhen Middle School to visit our school and the surrounding red historical and cultural attractions, experience the university atmosphere, hold red education theme activities, and broaden their horizons.
(3)Qingniao Spreading Knowledge, Carrying Dreams Together Qingniao Spreading Knowledge Project
Youth Research Classroom
The Qingyan Classroom adopts the form of online teaching, recruiting volunteers to teach excellent courses such as traditional culture and mental health to the left-behind children of Yanjing Primary School, to improve their comprehensive literacy and help their all-round development.
Online Micro-course
The online micro-courses take the form of recorded science videos. School student volunteers are assisted by service team members in selecting topics and conducting subsequent video production. Excellent videos will be released on the Qingniao Voluntary Team’s Bilibili account to broaden the horizons of children at Tuzhen Middle School and Yanjing Primary School.

Book Donation
School student volunteers donated old books to the Qingniao Voluntary Team to enrich the extracurricular life of left-behind children at Tuzhen Middle School.
Summer Teaching
Each July during the summer vacation, the Qingniao Teaching Team, comprising volunteers, goes to Tuzhen Middle School to carry out summer teaching activities, including history, physics, and other courses, as well as business thinking education. At the same time, they carry out fun sports games, art performances, and other theme activities to promote the all-round development of students.
3. Project Outcomes
The project takes many measures to help the healthy development of left-behind children. This includes setting up grocery stores, holding charity sales, and awarding scholarships 13 times in 8 years, totaling 21,200 yuan; It also recruits volunteers to communicate one-on-one with left-behind children, with a total of 34 activities, more than 900 volunteers, and more than 8,000 letters exchanged; The Youth Research Classroom has conducted 27 sessions so far, covering 17 classes and benefiting 998 students; 37 online micro-classes and cloud teaching videos have been produced, with over 6,500 views on Bilibili, serving more than 2,000 people; It also provides on-site summer teaching every year; It forms a partnership with the Xiang Xinli Club, the lawn concert charity sale and cultural and creative competition earned 1,024 yuan, all of which was used to help the left-behind children in Tu Town and illuminate their path to growth and development.
At the same time, the voluntary team has won the 2022 Hubei Province Benyu Volunteer Service Team founding group, the 2024 Top Ten Volunteer Public Welfare Projects of Zhongnan University of Finance and Economics(ZUEL) Houde Cup Youth Volunteer Public Welfare Project Competition, 2023-2024 May Fourth Youth Medal Youth Group of ZUEL, etc., and has been reported by many media outlets such as the Yangtze River Daily, Chutian Metropolis Daily, Liangzi Lake Government Official Website, Hubei Weishan.com, Toutiao, Ezhou Civilization Network, etc., with fruitful results.
4. Conclusion
The Business Thinking to Help Dreams, Qingniao Walking Together project interprets the responsibility and commitment of young volunteers on the great road of rural revitalization with practical actions. Looking to the future, the Qingniao Voluntary Team will continue to uphold its original intention, continuously optimize the project content, and expand the coverage. It will provide a blue sky for more left-behind children, allow them to flourish in an environment of love, and jointly write a new chapter in rural education.
