Under the early spring sunshine, the MBA Class of 2024, Concentration 1 students of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law gathered in Wuhan to begin their new semester of knowledge pursuit. Associate Professor Tang Yipeng delivered an insightful course on "Introduction to Business Ethics and Social Responsibility," leading the students in an in-depth exploration of the ethical mission and responsibility of businesses in modern society.
At the start of the class, Professor Tang used vivid case studies and profound theoretical analysis to outline the rich connotations of business ethics. He pointed out that ethical behavior is driven by awareness and involves actions that are either beneficial or harmful to others or society, with the standard for determining whether an action is ethical being whether it aligns with visible moral norms.
During the course, Professor Tang also introduced the narrative logic of justice, guiding students to think about how businesses should adhere to principles of justice in commercial activities from multiple dimensions, such as care and harm, fairness and deception, loyalty and betrayal.
To deepen the students' understanding and reflection of the course content, Professor Tang organized interactive games. The students were divided into groups and actively participated by role-playing and collaborating as teams, simulating the decision-making process of businesses when faced with choices between profit and ethics. Through these activities, the students gained a firsthand understanding of the real challenges and importance of business ethics and social responsibility.
