On the afternoon of April 24th, the School of Business Administration (SBA) at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) held a grand ceremony at the Wenhan Building to launch its Labor Education Creation Initiative and inaugurate the SBA SustainLab Initiative Labor Education Workshop.
ZUEL Secretary Huang Xiaomei, SBA Dean Professor Wu Haitao, SBA Secretary Yu Xiaopeng, and SBA Deputy Secretary Zhu Yanping attended the event. Faculty, administrative staff, representatives from the Volunteer Association, undergraduate students, and graduate students also participated, jointly embarking on a new chapter of innovative practice in building the SBA labor education system. The event was hosted by SBA Deputy Secretary Nijati Aimaiti.
Professor Wu Haitao, Dean of SBA, delivered a speech. He began by sharing his childhood experiences working in the fields, encouraging all faculty and students to actively engage in labor practice and embody the philosophy of "SBA is our home; we protect it together" through concrete actions. He emphasized that labor education is a crucial component in cultivating business talents in the new era.
ZUWL Secretary Huang Xiaomei awarded the plaque for the SBA SustainLab Initiative Labor Education Workshop, which was received by instructor Liu Zhenxing. The SBA SustainLab Initiative deeply integrates ESG concepts, conveying the responsibility and mission of labor education in the new era. It also inspires SBA faculty and students to practice ESG principles through labor, empowering the high-quality development of the business school.
Lin Jingzhi, President of the SBA Volunteer Association, read the "Labor Practice Initiative," calling on all faculty and students to actively participate in labor practice, beautify the campus with their own hands, promote civility through actions, and contribute business strength to creating a green, clean, and sustainable learning and living environment.
At the event, Leng Feng, General Manager of Wuhan Ximeiling Architectural Decoration Design Engineering Co., Ltd., delivered a hands-on labor practice class. Using examples of vinyl floor cleaning and maintenance, he provided detailed explanations on tool selection, stain removal, and regular maintenance practices. Afterwards, faculty and students proceeded to their designated areas and enthusiastically engaged in collective labor.
The SBA SustainLab Initiative Labor Education Workshop adheres to the principle of "co-creation by teachers and students." Previously, under the organization of the SBA Volunteer Association, over 240 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students volunteered to adopt and care for the school’s greenery. Student representatives at all levels actively took responsibility for designated areas, while school leadership and administrative staff implemented a "three responsibilities" system for the areas in front of their offices. A sustainable labor practice plan was also established, with teachers and students working together to create an ecological, beautiful, and livable study and living environment.
