On 21st June 2025, when Nanshan lychees were in season, the Shenzhen Alumni Chapter of the School of Business Administration of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law organized a lychee picking activity. Alumni and their family members were invited to enjoy the fun of picking, taste lychees and share friendship in a joyful atmosphere.

The activity was held at Shenzhen Baotian Farm, located at the foot of Yangtai Mountain and beside Xili Reservoir. The farm mainly grows premium lychee varieties of Lingnan such as Guiwei and Nuomici. Deng Huijun, MBA Alumnus of the 2020 Cohort of ZUEL, serves as the Farm Director. A large lychee orchard welcomed alumni from all places, with a red carpet extending from the entrance to the orchard. Organized by the Secretariat of the SBA Alumni Chapter, the activity attracted over 30 alumni and their family members.

At 4 p.m., alumni arrived at the orchard one after another. Farm Director Deng Huijun warmly welcomed everyone, introduced the orchard’s planting situation and picking precautions in detail, explained how to distinguish varieties like Guiwei and Nuomici, and noted that the lychees here are mostly supplied to Hong Kong customers with guaranteed quality. Later, everyone took picking tools and started a “picking competition”. Red lychees hung all over the branches; children ran between the trees, while adults picked lychees and occasionally tasted them, filling the air with laughter.

After the picking activity, some alumni gathered at a nearby restaurant to chat. They shared memories of campus life and discussed plans for alumni work. Guo Xiaole, Secretary of the SBA Alumni Chapter, said that the university and the SBA have always attached great importance to alumni work. He hoped to further strengthen connections between alumni and promote interaction between alumni and the university through various activities. He also mentioned that the chapter will actively explore more ways to increase alumni visits and better serve as a bridge for alumni.

Alumni put forward constructive suggestions during the discussion, such as establishing an alumni mutual assistance platform to provide more employment and entrepreneurship support, and organizing regular exchanges between alumni enterprises to promote cooperation and development.

This activity allowed everyone to get close to nature, enjoy the sweetness of summer and relax. It also deepened the bond between alumni, who recalled the past, shared growth experiences and offered suggestions for alumni work, jointly passing on the warmth and strength of ZUEL.
