Cao Maolong, born in 1977 in Tongshan County of Xianning City, is the Founder, Shareholder and Legal Representative of Hubei Aike Cable Co., Ltd., holding the titles of Senior Engineer and Senior Economist. He is an alumnus of the MBA 2014 cohort at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL), an MBA Corporate Cooperation Tutor of ZUEL and an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Tutor of Jingchu University of Technology. He also serves as Vice President of the Hubei Association of Science and Technology Entrepreneurs, Vice President of the Jingmen Chu Business Federation, and Executive Vice President of the Wuhan Chapter of the Alumni Association of the School of Business Administration (SBA) at ZUEL.
Born into a poor rural family, Cao Maolong has always had a strong thirst for knowledge and excelled in his studies despite adversity. He failed to enter his ideal university due to poor performance in the college entrance exam caused by anxiety, but he quickly adjusted his mindset and focused on self-improvement. After graduating from university, he gave up his postgraduate study plan to work in Wenzhou, Zhejiang to repay his parents, starting as a technician. By integrating professional knowledge with practical work, he honed his abilities and grew into a corporate executive with billions in annual sales.
Aware of the need for further learning amid rapid social and technological development, he took the national postgraduate entrance exam on the recommendation of friends and became an MBA 2014 student of ZUEL. During his studies, he was deeply influenced by ZUEL’s motto "extensive knowledge, rational thought, moral integrity, and social commitment" and the campus's academic freedom. The university’s cutting-edge courses, case study teaching and academic lectures broadened his horizons, broke his traditional thinking, sparked his innovative ideas and helped him develop a lifelong learning habit. Equipped with updated concepts and professional capabilities, he decided to start a cable company after graduation by virtue of his expertise in the cable industry. To this day, he still benefits from the knowledge and network resources of ZUEL, and he plans to return for further study, regarding ZUEL as the wellspring of his growth and career progress.
After graduating from ZUEL in 2017, Cao Maolong founded Hubei Aike Cable Co., Ltd. in 2019 after two years of preparation, focusing on the R&D, production and sales of mineral-insulated cables with technological innovation as the core. In the R&D of the NG-A-950 mineral-insulated fire-resistant cable, the initial product was abandoned due to installation inconvenience and high cost despite passing performance tests. Adhering to a market-oriented approach, the R&D team conducted over 100 experiments and finalized the optimal formula and production process. Certified by national authorities, the NG-A-950 cable can maintain power supply for 180 minutes at 950℃ without breakdown, produces no smoke or toxic gas, and its performance far exceeds national standards and meets the international top standard BS6387 with lower costs, filling a domestic market gap and suitable for high-density populated areas such as subways, airports and hospitals. Amid economic headwinds, the product was well received nationwide after mass production, winning the first "Hubei Premium Product" in 2024, being applied in the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan at the end of 2024, and obtaining a national invention patent in June 2025.
